Order a VPS step by step · Galaxium Hosting help
Walk through the four order steps, pay, and watch your new server set itself up.
You order a VPS from VPS. The Configure your server box takes you through four steps, and you can go back to any step before you pay.
Before you start
- You need an account. If you aren't signed in, the last button says Sign up & deploy, and your choices are kept while you sign up.
- If you have account credit, it is used first, automatically.
- Every VPS is built in the United States: VPS plans in St. Louis, MO, and Streaming VPS plans usually in Ashburn, VA. The Review step shows the location.
Step 1: OS & App
Pick what the server starts with:
- Operating systems: a clean system, such as Ubuntu or Debian. See Choose an operating system for your VPS.
- Apps: a ready-made app that installs itself on first boot. See One-click apps on a VPS.
If you pick a version marked End of life, tick I understand this operating system no longer gets security updates. to continue.
Step 2: Plan
- Pick how often you pay at the top: Monthly, Quarterly or Annual.
- If both lines are shown, choose VPS or Streaming VPS under Product line.
- Click a plan. A plan marked Sold out right now can't be ordered at the moment.
The plans and what they include are explained in VPS plans, billing periods and add-ons.
Step 3: Customize
Customize your server starts with a summary of what your server gets: Hostname, Server name, Automatic backups, Root login and Extras. Every choice has a default. Click Use defaults to keep them all, or change what you like below and click Review order.
- Add-ons: extras such as Automatic daily backups or an Extra IPv4 address. Only the add-ons your plan offers are listed.
- Server name: the label you see in your dashboard. Leave it blank and the hostname is used.
- Hostname: the server's own name. Leave it blank and we pick one. You can change it later.
- Root password: leave Generate one for me on and a strong password is shown to you once after you deploy. Or switch it off and type your own (at least 12 characters, not a common password or your email).
Step 4: Review
Check the OS or app, plan, add-ons, names and location. Click Edit on any row to change it.
The price box shows Total due today and the Renewal price. If you have a promo code, enter it under Have a promo code?
Click Deploy & pay. If you have a saved card, the button shows the amount and pays with that card in one click. Otherwise you go to the payment page. Clicking it means you agree to the Terms of Service and to automatic renewal until you cancel.
After you pay
A setup screen shows the progress: Creating server, Installing (for apps), Securing and Ready. It updates on its own.
If we generated your password, the Your server password window shows it once. Copy it somewhere safe. We don't keep a copy.
Click Go to my server to open its Overview. Your server also appears in My services.
Tip: Next, connect over SSH and secure your server.
Troubleshooting
- "Accounts can have up to N VPSes": each account has a VPS limit, counting orders still waiting for payment. Open a support ticket if you need more for your business.
- Setup needs attention: our team is told automatically. You can still open your server, or contact support from the setup screen.
- The order failed after paying: the charge goes back to your account credit, and the message says so.
