What you can and can't run on a VPS · Galaxium Hosting help

The basics of our Acceptable Use Policy for servers: what's welcome, what isn't, and what happens if something goes wrong.

You have full root access, so you can run almost anything legal. This article is a short summary of our Acceptable Use Policy. The full policy is what applies.

Welcome

Not allowed

Content involving the sexual abuse of children means immediate termination and a report to the authorities.

Share the hardware fairly

Servers share physical hardware with other customers. Use what your plan includes, but don't keep the CPU near full for long periods or run disk or network use that slows everyone else down. If your use is hurting others, we normally contact you first and may suggest a bigger plan.

Keep your server secure

Keeping your server secure is your job. Use SSH keys or strong passwords, install updates, and close services you don't need. A hacked server that sends abuse is treated as a breach until it's fixed. See Secure your VPS: SSH keys and a firewall.

If something goes wrong

For most first-time problems we open an abuse ticket, explain what's wrong and give you time to fix it. If it isn't fixed, or it's serious, the server can be limited, suspended or terminated. Active attacks, malware, spam runs and mining can be stopped at once, without notice.

If you think we got it wrong, reply to the abuse ticket and we'll review it.

Note: Not sure if something is allowed? Ask us first in a support ticket (choose the Sales department).

To report abuse coming from a Galaxium Hosting server, open a ticket in the Abuse department or email the abuse address in the Acceptable Use Policy.
