Use a domain you already own · Galaxium Hosting help
Connect a domain registered with another company for free, and choose whether its DNS moves here or stays where it is.
You don't have to move a domain to use it here. Use your own domain connects a domain registered with another company for free. It stays registered where it is, and you keep renewing it there.
Connect a domain
- Go to Domains → Use your own domain.
- Enter the domain, for example
example.com, and click Continue. - Prove it's yours. The page shows a TXT record with a Name / Host and a Value. Add it where the domain's DNS is managed today, usually at your registrar. It doesn't change your website or email.
- Click I've added it, check now. The record usually shows up within a few minutes, sometimes up to an hour.
- Choose who should answer its DNS:
- Galaxium DNS (recommended): we host its DNS so you edit records here. We copy the records your current DNS answers with, and you then change the nameservers at your registrar to ours.
- Keep my current DNS: nothing moves. You add any records you need at your current DNS provider yourself.
- Click Connect followed by your domain name. The domain then opens in Domains.
You only prove ownership once. You can remove the TXT record after the domain is connected.
Switch to Galaxium DNS
Nothing changes until you update the nameservers at your registrar. Before you switch:
- Open the domain and check DNS records. The common records were copied, but add anything missing, such as other subdomains or mail signing keys. You can also import a zone file.
- At your registrar, replace the nameservers with the ones shown on the domain's page.
Nameserver changes can take from a few minutes up to 48 hours to reach everyone. See Manage DNS records, nameservers and forwarding.
Renewals, privacy and the transfer lock
A connected domain is still renewed at the company where it's registered, and its privacy and lock settings stay there too. To manage all of that here, transfer it to Galaxium Hosting.
Troubleshooting
- The record isn't found: check that it is saved exactly as shown. Some providers want only the first part of the name, others the full name; the page shows both.
- "Already in your account": use Open it to go to the domain.
- Connected to another account: if the domain is yours, open a ticket and we'll sort it out.
