What is the AI Router? · Galaxium Hosting help
One API key and one prepaid balance for AI models from many providers, explained in plain words.
The AI Router lets your apps, bots and tools talk to many AI models through one address and one key. You don't need an account with each AI company. Every request is paid from one prepaid balance of AI credits.
Who it's for
- You run a Discord bot, website, script or automation that needs an AI model.
- You use a tool that asks for an "OpenAI API key" and a "base URL".
- You want to try models from several providers and only pay for what you use.
It works with anything that speaks the OpenAI API, which most AI apps and libraries do.
How paying works
- You buy AI credits in advance. 1 credit = $0.01, and credits don't expire.
- Each request costs credits based on the model and how much text goes in and comes out. See AI Router models and pricing.
- Failed requests cost nothing.
- There is no monthly fee. When your balance is empty, requests stop until you top up. Nothing is charged automatically unless you turn on auto top-up.
Get started in four steps
- Buy credits. Open AI Router → Billing & credits and pick a credit pack. See AI credits and auto top-up.
- Try a model. Open the Playground and chat with any model right in your browser. Playground requests use your credits too.
- Create a key. Under API keys, click Create API key. Keys start with
gx-and are shown only once. See Create and manage AI Router API keys. - Connect your app. Copy the Base URL from the Quick start card on the AI Router overview and put it, with your key, into your app's settings. Code examples: Use the AI Router with the OpenAI SDK.
Where things are
| Page | What it's for | |---|---| | Overview | Balance, spend this month, the Quick start code and recent activity | | Usage | Credits, requests and tokens by model and by key | | Playground | Try models without writing code | | API keys | Create, limit and revoke keys | | Models | Every model with its price and context size | | Billing & credits | Buy credits and see the credit ledger | | Settings | Default model, caching, log retention and auto top-up |
Note: AI credits are separate from your USD account credit. You can pay for credits with account credit, but AI credits can't pay invoices.
